What we collect

This site is for parents, caregivers and adult readers. From the questionnaire we collect your email address and country, and your answers: the reading skills you want to work on, the kind of reading support already in place, an age band, and how you feel about getting started. When you reserve, the checkout collects your name, email, billing address and payment details. If you apply as a practitioner or ask about sponsoring headbands, we collect your name, work email, organization and the numbers you give us. We do not collect a child’s name or any other information about a child.

How we use it

To show your questionnaire result, to send updates about the headband and shipping (about once a month), to hold and manage your reservation, and to invite you to complete your order. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.

Who we share it with

Our site, checkout and email run on Shopify, which stores your information and processes card payments for us (we never see or store your full card number). Shopify’s privacy policy describes what Shopify itself does with it. A small number of apps connected to our Shopify store also process it for us. Meta and Google receive the advertising data described below. These companies are in the United States, so if you live in the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires.

Analytics and advertising

We use Meta’s and Google’s advertising tools, run through Shopify, to measure which ads lead to reservations. They tell Meta and Google which pages were visited and when a reservation is made, and Meta is also told when a questionnaire is completed. When you reserve, Shopify may also send them a scrambled (hashed) copy of your contact details so they can match the reservation to an ad. We never send them your questionnaire answers. To turn this off, choose Decline in the cookie banner. You can change your choice any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, and in US states that give you the right to opt out of targeted advertising, from Your privacy choices. Shopify also uses cookies to run the checkout and to count visits. Separately, one cookie remembers the price you were shown so it stays the same when you come back.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Your choices

Email info@generalneuro.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to object to how we use it. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your privacy regulator: the Information Commissioner’s Office in the United Kingdom, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in Canada, or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
